If it's a Mainstream bank like WF, BofA, Chase they'll likely be most worthwhile on a plain vanilla primary purchase, and provide a good frame of reference as you shop for mortgage options.

Plain and simple, there are just better markets for cash flow with less archaic tax structures and market swings. 

This is just plain incorrect.  

Because, as you seem to have found out by yourself, as the best deals generally don't show up in plain sight for everyone to see, as is the often the case in the US too.
