@Murdock Smith We don't worry about cable, phone lines or cat 5 etc as most people are using wireless devices these days anyways.

We actually bought a wireless microphone and a wired microphone, but neither one of them worked correctly.

We have a smartboard, and wireless internet access as well, but we can always use this as a backup.  

I was also thinking about a remote wireless camera (there will be no wifi initially so I am going to have to do some research) that I can view and keep track of the comings and goings.

Shouldn't the property at least have a coaxial cable jack on every floor to plug the wireless modem? 

@Paul Winka TN allows for wireless detectors so long as they're capable of communicating with one another.
