Tile and grout is  not waterproof, cement board was an improvement over green board as it doesn't rot like green board did, but it's water permeable, when the water gets through the tile and grout the tile doesn't rot off but the water gets into the framing and insulation behind it and allows mold to grow. 2016 we install water proof tile backers now like DensShield, which is even easier to install than CBU (cement board).

Pricing for the luxury dishwashers is mostly in the level of insulation to lower the sound rating.  

Would y'all do other energy efficient updates to the house like new windows, insulation, and doors, even if not needed?

The downside of glass block, in exterior walls  is the very, very low insulating value.

The belly board had been cut (that’s the plastic that holds the insulation in under the trailer) for previous plumbing repairs.

More insulation is better. 

In my mind "helping them out" further infantilizes and insulate them from the realities of their financial situation; allowing them not to learn from a mistake, but kick the can down the road and enabling them to potential make this same error again.

My tile contractor just did a tub surround for me, demo, backer, minor framing and replaced insulation for $1800.

I have many a family as proof to that and I personally refuse to be that victim. having a paid off primary residence weather single family or multi only insulates me from most of the worst of society and allows me to be very stress free and happy and conserve my momentum towards my goals with less obsticals. by having a paid off residence that's is a multi family I could still make progress even if I was only getting paid disability from the government. and make massive progress if I indeed to find a entry level job into my carrer field as a engineer.

In many older residences there is no insulation in the floor if it is a basement and it could be very loud.
