And gently remind them that they are required to disclose to any other potential buyer that the basement is not a legal unit (I assume the laws in Canada are similar to those here in the states)I would run the numbers as a worse-case scenario and make any offer based on that.

@Samantha Hopkins, as others have said, unless you live in a "Hip" area that likes the retro look, I would change them.Don't forget to check for gently used or scratch & dent appliance deals (on craigslist).You could get rid of the double ovens, replace them with a pantry type cabinet and get a range with an oven.
