Because there are MANY disabled Americans (obviously not just veterans) who have owner-trained service dogs and these "teams" are accepted under the ADA as legitimate service dog teams. 

So I contend the $295K number is plausible for a rental property like what American Homes 4 Rent bought, which is existing housing stock under $300K.

Most Americans expect your home to be the Hilton.

@Rob Bianco, I have to agree with Mike that from an American's perspective it makes very little sense to invest in Montreal.
