In the end, I prefer the long-term rental route with a good tenant though and over time when I start traveling for extended periods again, I will likely shift them back to long-term.I personally, would not purchase a property for the sole purpose of being a vacation rental - it's just not part of my investment strategy though, I have met people who do quite well with that model.

I would generally stay away from this model - something where maybe they do this through some sort of equity partnership where they are sharing the gains/risk from the deal while you are doing the bulk of the dirty work

@Ashish Acharya even if the sponsor filed for composite returns, I guess the LP will still need to pay taxes on the federal return, isn’t it (on the amount in box 4c)?
