Any good litigation attorney will be able to uncover who you are if they want to sue for big $, so the only 'benefit' to shielding your identity is having less confrontations, which in my opinion is unnecessary if you run your business properly.

Try establishing a relationship/rapport first, determine motivation, and try to find a win/win deal based off what you uncover.  

Unfortunately I think it is a flawed concept.
