Sounds like mostly a marketing thing from what I just read.

They are releasing permits now on a regular basis and things are able to move forward like they should.

I would search the BP forums because your tax / legal related questions likely have already been asked.However, it doesn't hurt to still ask the forum what your questions are.

I don't see a lot and feel like there is spam in some of them. 

sounds like someone got a nasty gram.. we see this with the syndicators that are called out then threaten the investor who called them out.. or anyone else companing about a service only to have the company either threaten or tell them if you take this down or retract we will give you your money back.. kind of like landlords lying about how great their dead beat tenant is to just get them to move on to the next landlord. 

My lawyer suggests in a situation like this that I give them a notice that I am the new owner and that as of a certain date they owe market rent of $X,XXX.

I have 3 accounts per property which helps me leverage APY on savings accounts, prevent funds from being comingled, and easily set up auto payments for things like mortgage payments and utilities. 

And what advice would you give to someone like me?
