I have no children, I live at home with my parents.

I needed to move out of my parent's house and didn't want to pay for it myself.

I too have been talking with my wife about getting a house for each child to have paid off by the time they are 18. 

Parental co-signing is possible but not probable.Has anyone been in a similar position?

You're likely to get much further if you empathize with the mom and explain that you're concerned about the son living without electricity versus trying to attack her parenting.

Keep in mind, it is seasonal, short term and you will most likely have to require parents signature and a larger deposit to back up these tenants. 

@Chuck KautzHey Chuck,I like your idea of getting your daughter involved.As a father of 2 kids that went to college I think this is a great time to expose your child to what the whole process involves from purchase to rehab to managing this property.Your child will get so much real world experience out of the process I hate to say but this exercise my have more of an impact on her life then the BA has!

My parents have 23 houses but they never did the snow ball effect but I'm kinda leaning towards it to start out and would really love some extra insight on this subject.
