Following that up with when you have the benefit of ownership of real property - it isn't until you actually have taken possession of the property.So then, the question comes, when that redemption period closes at the end of 12 months, does your holding period start with when you acquired the right to collect the delinquent taxes and interest?

I wish someone told me this when I first started landlording, but theres a couple of things you should start getting into the habit of.1) Sign a new lease with the tenant when you first acquire the property (assuming they are at will).

@Anthony DelVecchioTo house hack a property, rent it out after the first year, obtain another FHA loan if necessary, refinance the FHA loan into a conventional loan, use a conventional loan for subsequent properties, and repeat the process to acquire additional properties, diversify financing methods, consider different property types, leverage equity, and network with real estate professionals.Good luck!

During the recent period of low interest rates I acquired some rentals with a 15% down payment in order to stretch my cash further toward down payments on additional properties.This helped with the down payments and my math showed that even with a little higher interest rate compared with 20% down and the PMI until I was able to remove that this would still be the wiser choice.
