In general, the rule is a bedroom must have an egress window, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector if gas appliances are being used.

@CJ M. keep in mind this is LA which means whenever he decides to sell if a replacement is necessary and the contractor isn't blowing smoke the buyer will ask for it.
