For one I was too focussed on the price tag - I wanted to limit the amount of money I am putting at risk.

I may look into a privacy fence if I get the place.

@Jeff C.Canadian privacy law pretty much precludes the amalgamation and selling of lists (probate, mortgage arrears/defaults) as you see done in the U.S.A.

Even if you own a house you can violate privacy laws. 

I might suggest you take 3 distinct earth tone colors for the exterior to define each unit better and I would also add a back fence plus a fence to separate the units as well to lend more privacy.

I can put in privacy fence to make it nicer and also to give some relief from the random inquiring local drunk brigade.  

These were the guys who focussed on their businesses, and grew a little each year, they were always profitable, maybe not hugely profitable, but by the time they were in their 50s they suddenly realized what they had achieved; multi million dollar businesses.I distinctly remember a guy in the second category.

I worked that into my offer.My first thought was to get a fresh survey done and put up a privacy fence.The seller also told me the neighbor had previously asked to buy the property to move her mother into.  

If you care about your privacy and not being marketed to Apple is the way to go.
