I am really looking for general areas, prices and types of lodging in order to get a more precise idea on what we should focus on when we come to buy next year.

It’s a little more work because you have to remit lodging taxes, but other than that we haven’t had any problems.

On top of that you pay almost 15% in lodging taxes.  

My model would be to create a "ranch" of tiny/small cabins to STR on a property that would have a main "lodge" as well. 

If you don't get results, let them know that you're going to your state's real estate commission to lodge a formal complaint.Depending on the amount, there's also small claims court. 

- If your travel was for the repair of the house, yes you can deduct the travel, lodging(overnight travel outside of your home city), meals (50%).
