Just as landlords like to rent to the ideal tenant, bankers like to lend money to the ideal borrower.I've found it useful to learn the system and use it to my advantage for accomplishing what I want to do (build wealth) rather than fight the system and face an uphill battle.

While initial purchase price will always look higher, comparing a Mac to a Chromebook's an apples to oranges comparison (no pun intended). iPads are closer to Chromebooks and even that's hard to compare since a Chromebook with similar capability to an iPad is a $1k Google device not the the $400 device sold at Best Buy based off 5 year old chipsets.

Typically the adjoining property owners will fight you especially if its single family residential, but you need to prepare a solid presentation to the Town that your plans are the best use for the property and more specifically monetarily for the Town and its residents.

Given that student loan interest rates in most cases exceed returns from the average rental property in todays market and given that student loans are not dischargeable in bankruptcy and that the govt can garnish tax returns to reclaim and that they very negatively affect your borrowing capability I'd pay those rascals off as fast as I could.
