We have allowed animals both with a fee and without depending on property, and have added to the lease that tenants agree to an automatic use of security deposit for a professional deep clean and restoration to a non-animal inhabited state.

If I remember correctly it is like with civilian house hacking, you have to occupy the property a certain amount of time, then, if you did not use the total max VA loan amount you can rent out your current house and buy a 2-4 unit place with the nice low down payment amount the VA loan allows, live in one unit and rent out the others so that your renters pay off the mortgage = house hacking.Check also here veteransunited.com for more info.Good luck.

My investment neighborhood too terrible for Section 8 to want, and still not war zone.We only have issues with insurance when the units have issues that make them considered inhabitable' like broken windows, cracked porch, etc.

This house was basically a shell 🤣 not saying there’s not a buyer for it BUT it works out a little bit quicker when you have a house that’s actually able to be inhabited 🤣🤣.Don’t shy away when you come across people who try to shut you down.
