I have seen a judgement of over $10 million where carbon monoxide killed 2 people staying in the home. 

I did add a minimum of four recessed lights to each room as well as track lights dome lights pendant lights and hanging center piece lights, as well as smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, for this I had to spend some time in the attic anyway.
