Nothing was flashed or caulked....nothing...and the water getting in from the outside....and the condensation forming on the inside has been rotting out the cedar and growing mold in the wall.

I think in any climate you can have concerns with it being sealed up due to changing temperatures inside and out causing condensation, mold, etc.

As common with most homes in my area, the condenser unit sits outside in the back of the house but the furnace is also outside right next to it.

There was condensation on the windows in the whole house, you can smell mold in the basement, not so much upstairs(its been sitting like this for a week or so now).My first thought was: "not worth it, there are always less complicated deals".
