I have come from humble background and did not have money to study abroad, but still went ahead and persevere through thick and thin, and finally made it.You should make your goal and then keep on working towards it.

Plus I have a thick skin from the Military!

If the flooring is 3/4" thick you may be able to plane it down and reuse it. 

They're 5.5mm thick and do not have a built-in underlayment.  

Very thick stuff and he needs more money.

Luckily, this wood paneling was extremely sturdy and thick. we ripped off all the molding at the top and the baseboard (obviously) and added strips to the top and the bottom level with the paneling then just sheet rocked over it.

You need a subfloor at least 3/4 inch thick.
