I don’t do technical work much anymore, and the work is full time employee type work rather than contract work as is so common in tech for engineering roles.

In addition to the current job, talk to the techs that come out about your rentals, get their phone numbers, tell them that you want to keep your AC units running just a long as possible you are looking for someone who will fix it not replace it.

The one exception I'll make is I do have AC service plans through my Gas/electric company (BGE in MD) that has no deductible and they have their own techs to dispatch so service is prompt and competent.

Since the only things I have seen so far that weren't holding up are those they have been done in the last decade, I would have to lean way towards the 93 yr old parts being much safer than the 13 yr old crap.Of course, I had to mention the whole part about it being a fire trap, which seems to be what helped burn Chicago down back in the day, But with modern tech, that shouldn't be as worrisome as back then.Anyone with anything you think I should know, need to , or what to know about balloon framed houses.
