Visiting the property in person is beneficial too, as it helps you understand the flow of the house and assess how well it can be marketed later on.For turnkey properties updated by previous owners who lived there can be a good buy.

There are three items required to make a successful partnership - Time, Experience, Capital.If you are a syndicator, you are likely expected to have time and experience.There is a lot that goes into being a competent syndicator - Proper communications, finding a good deal, communicating quarterly updates, networking with lenders, contractors, PM companies.You can gain experience by doing your own deals or working for someone who does(Ideally both).I personally think you should cement your experience before worrying about OPM.Best of luck

The syndicator refuses to give me updates and does not return emails.

@Tanya Maslach Since it sounds like you're not really using a property manager - connect with whoever helped you purchase the property to see if they know of a leasing agent or showing agent that you could reach out to help hold the property open to tour at least once to twice a week for an 1-2 hour period on weekends. 

TIAErich  Erich - I would echo other's comments, but also point you in the direction of a Bigger Pocket book, "Estimating Rehab Costs" - It's a 2019 version, so the actual dollar amounts will need to be increased, but it can give you a good starting point for the process that you can refine/update over time. 

But if they don't, I'll update my calendar availability and open it back up.

It seems like a lot of short term rentals don't get updated and that's a key differentiator that we're hoping to take advantage of.
