If both of the properties are near each other (it sounds like they are) then you'd also be able to use one property manager for the both of them as well.

I have been an investor for well over a decade and working with other investors buying and selling flips and rentals for nearly as long here in the Dallas/Ft.

I have a 3/2.5 in Old Lake Highlands near White Rock Lake (~1 mile) that my family and I are living in as a primary residence, but I have been thinking about house hacking into another house and then doing a MTR on this 3/2.5.

Even if the local market and comps show a finished basement, an unfinished basement is better than one that has constant issues from moisture.  

If you have a friend of family member near the area, even better.
