If people are looking to set up a MTR it is very misleading and if someone is looking for a place it also matches even if your property is too far from the major city that is searched resulting in leads that aren't really a match. 

@Sean Conroy, this really depends on two things: first, the land zoned in a way that you can subdivide and build more units (question for building/zoning department) and second, financial returns on doing this versus using the capital to buy.New construction certainly has its advantages on the operating side, and can often get a premium to remodeled, older units.

There seems to be a glut of STRs in every major market, yet there are RE agents out there telling people that there is demand.There may be demand, but if the owner cannot book their place to cover the costs, how can RE agents be out there telling people that it's a good investment? 

The cost of living in here is more affordable compared to other major metro areas.
