I am a Marine Corps helicopter pilot who is getting off of active duty next year.  

I am a 23 year old former Marine Sgt, honorably discharged.

I started UCSD from 2008-2012 after getting out of the Marines and of course I wish I had been able to buy something at that time.  

I know several people (some of whom I made the initial suggestion) that rent- out their entire abode (while they stay at a friend's, lover's, family's, etc. place) for around +/- $500. a night, here in Sonoma, Napa and Marin, etc. county "wine country."

I think I'd use sika marine adhesive and glue it up on top of all that green tile then paint it a color you like.

I would like to acquire as much capital as possible to be able to get my first property somewhat soon after I get out of the Marine Corps.

@Catherine Woodman Did you try looking outside of Marin county?

I'm a former Marine and I have the opportunity to be commissioned into the Air Force Active  Duty.

My job as a Marine Engineer and Navy Reservist unfortunately does take me away from time to time and sometimes for a couple months at a time but I'm committed to making this work.
