The zoning issue is the underlining problem that needs more focus, some progress is happening from backyard cottages and MILs.

It's difficult to turn over a 2-3-4k square foot home in time for the next check in, not nearly as challenging is a 1/1 cottage or a  2/2 condo. 

It is better to lose the cheese and get out of the trap.

I didn't tell my wife about the cottages because I first wanted to see if she liked the home.

All I see is potential for an Airbnb, essentially adding the interior rooms, walls, etc. and call it a cottage or something.

We have a 2 bedroom cottage a mile from us that is rented every weekend & sometimes the extra 'visitors' put up tents outside.

Good Day All,I have heard a lot about crazy cash flow on Cottage/Airbnb rentals in Ontario (specially near lake/water properties) during Summer season which has intrigued my interest in Short term rentals investing. 

I have someone under contract now on a 3br cottage- she's the right fit and thrilled. 

I purchased a new primary residence in Asheville, NC in 2018, and the property included a 1-bedroom cottage.

(mostly huge vacation rentals here where you need 4-10 other couples to rent a giant beach home) while this is about 20 units, but it varies from 2 bedrooms to 4 bedroom cottage units so i has a little bit of everything. here is the awesome part, he does little to no advertising or anything, not even a good webpage just a infrequently updated facebook page and he pulls rentals like that. so there is definitely room for growth.
