@Nick KeeseeI go with $300,000 on the policy covering the SFH plus $2,000,000 umbrella insurance.

Your best protection, in my opinion (I am NOT a lawyer- so that's a big disclaimer right there), would be to have an umbrella liability policy that covers you at least up to the extent of your net worth.

We have a separate $1Mil umbrella liability for all of our properties together in one policy. 

In addition to this, it appears that obtaining an umbrella insurance policy will give me another layer of protection.

A banker/lender will be running to you to give an umbrella when the sun is out but take it away as soon as it starts raining!
