Per CA law, I have to send them an abandoned property notice and wait 18 days before I can dispose of it. 

advantage to prepaying a mortgage is you will save on interest payments.Disadvantage is you are spending your disposable income now.

You just want to be top of mind when they finally are ready to dispose of it.

You could spend as much as $5k removing and disposing that slab.
