On this journey, my wife has become a real estate agent and has focused her attention on the area as well.Situation:A few months ago, I cold-called the local head of city council because I found out he owned a commercial building nearby (which piqued my interest) and we met for a beer, chatted about the possibilities and then things went radio silent.

Rent controls just suck all around and create blighted communities  Our city councils are always trying to do these but we need to vote them out.

The City council and the residents in Cupertino are currently fighting over this.

It’s a sealed bid auction and the bids will be opened at the village council meeting this Tuesday.  

It was supposed to simplify things and at nearly 1500 pages that doesn’t seem to be the case but still lots of much needed change.I am not holding my breathe either but the noise from council and the committees is that they are going to get it done and fast.  

(A caution on Colorado Springs short-term rentals, though ... the city council is discussing a possible density restriction that would only allow an Airbnb if it is outside of a 500' radius from another Airbnb.

They are currently working with legal council to get amendments put in so they can limit STR.
