Aside from that, it is an immersion. 

I too have no TV.Ever since Friends went off the air--there seemed to be nothing of interest for me on TV.Anything I want to see, seems to be on YouTube.Re the STR, some people LOVE Sports and not having a TV seems like it would cut down on the number of people who would book, All Boomers and sports aficionados or CNN news junkies.Some people live to see the next PGA or NFL production.While America watches Dan Rather and etc...I am immersed in the internet....Just my 2 cents.

I currently live in the dorms on the AF base and are trying to learn and immerse myself in real estate so that when I am financially able, I can then start looking for deals.

I’ve been studying and immersing myself in RE investing books, videos, podcasts, and articles for the past two years, and I knew that buy-and-hold was the direction I wanted to take.

It can become a crutch just like someone working a part time job with just enough effort to get by and pay the bills and make an occasional sale but not be fully successful and immersed in the profession.I am a believer in that you are ALL IN or ALL OUT.
