I remember having to get former dog kennel ready to be used as office space.

This is not for an investment - it is just to buy some land in an attractive area, build a small vacation home and perhaps use it for a couple of weeks per year.There's no way that it will make financial sense, so I am just looking for land that will be cheap and in a pretty part of the country.

You might also ask that the renter keep the dog in a kennel (on the premise) while the renter is at work or away.I had a recent renter sign a lease agreeing to no pets.  

But when I am not home she is in her kennel always.  

you might talk to the area building inspector to see if they will look for anything particular.

Local construction costs and area building requirements may change the cost slightly for your area.
