I have been doing much research and was just trying to use this as a gateway.  

I'm using Tom Rosser with Gateway mortgage.  

Its a good gateway to start. when i first started on bigger pockets I too had about 10k saved and just started reading through forums and reading books and found out really fast that 10k won't do you much good in this industry, especially if your in California.

I love my brokerage (Keller Williams Gateway) and they are very friendly to investor agents (in fact I just spoke on a panel about working with investors that was attended by a lot of agents from outside the brokerage).  

What are people's thoughts on this new development east of WPI called Gateway Park?

@Nathan Alton I have had good success with Gateway Mortgage Group in Kansas City.  

While the asset managers will vary based on your region, in Connecticut the current asset manager that services the HUD's is BLB Resources, the place that is always referred to a gateway to bid and find more info is hudhomestore.com.As previous posters have mentioned, make sure the agent you are working with has a valid NAID issued through HUD because they will need one to place a bid for you.

In the last 6 months, I have discovered real estate investing through the usual gateway book, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and have been consuming everything I can (especially bigger pockets podcasts!).

There was some chitter chatter about them expanding their footprint to a few other counties (they only lend on real estate within their specific county footprint of business), one cost of that would have been no longer being able to offer that HELOC (I guess the HELOC is a good "gateway product" to get new checking/savings account customers, new car loan and wealth management customers, you get the idea).
