Renting, like hiring an employee, taking on a business partner or client and marring (even more so), are relationships that can be costly if made hastily or imprudently.Like others, I have check lists that I do not deviate from.

These are NOT employees according to the website, they’re independent contractors who receive 1099 at the end of the year.  

If you are self employed with no full time employees then you should consider a Solo 401k for your traditional funds and no UBIT on leveraged real estate.

A large landlord might have some employees to handle turnovers.

I suspect you spoke to bank employees who weren’t in their commercial lending division and didn’t understand your borrowing request.
