However, Austin proper has a high barrier to entry due to the sharp rise in property values in recent years.

In larger cities like Vancouver BC, the newer condos are smaller so they can get more units in each high rise and because the cost of housing is really high ($1.3M for a 820 sq ft 2 bed/2 bath condo).

While the traditional approach involves buying a multi family property, living in one unit and renting out the other - with rising prices and interest rates; others have considered renting out bedrooms as unit spaces. 

But with all the syndicators out there NOT all but many also getting stuck with their deals needing to recapitalize because interest rate rise and tax's and insurance rise was not planned for or contemplated these are legitimate actions to take to protect the greater good.
