(So dig a little deeper in area searches) Irvington for buy and hold properties (this area has been unique as well as stable for some time with buy and holds), other areas for fix and flip would be Haughville (truly seeing some changes in the market recently and level of finish to homes), Brightwood, Bates-Hendricks and most recently near Riverside Park bound by 16th St to the North, 10th St on the South- Indiana Ave & River/Fall Creek East & West.

I dont know your situation, and I have never done this before...but sounds like youd have to bust up the foundation, dig a hole even deeper than the footings and I dont believe digging around footings after youve already busted up the slab/foundation is a good idea at all.

There are places near Modesto where you can but 200 acres of beautiful land with a lake front for something like $135,000 (if I am correct), and I have a friend who looked into buying the land, but the cost to bring in electric is insane and then you neeed to dig a well and install pumps, storage tanks and even 4 inch pipes for fire hydrants.
