She opens the door to the unit and it is the most disgusting place I have ever seen or smelled (human urine).  

Once I helped out some friends that had one tenant pass away from alcohol, the son was a complete mess with drugs urinating and defecating on the floor and on top of all that they were hoarders.

Also, noted here is that the "landlord" said she was in the house "too long", which seems to me that there was a comment made about a "temporary stay" until the "adult child(ren)"  and their children and dog, found their own place.I would think there was damage done, probably by the animals - either dander or feces or urine or even scratches to the doors or walls.

They will spray urine to mark territory.

@Cody Barrett  IMO cats do more damage due to the urine/litter box issue.

Very strong smell of cat urine that I am wondering if we will be able to eradicate.  

When I first took a tour of the property, the smell of money hit me as soon as the door opened…cigarettes and urine!
