Perhaps, if there is only a 5 year life span left, you want to do the replacement reserve in 3 years, and set aside more every year.Naturally, if the HVAC equipment is only 10 years old, you set aside less each year, because you have more time (hopefully).At some level this is a guess.

Since most syndicated offerings have a life span of 10 years or less, this works very well in this context.Of course, tax benefits aren't the only reason to invest in syndicated offerings, and how the sponsor treats tax implications shouldn't be the primary deciding factor when choosing a sponsor to invest with.
