I had roommates paying about 75% of my mortgage while I lived there for the first two years and over the last year I moved out and a new tenant is paying 100% of the mortgage for me. 

The plan was to buy a house with a casita, as I don’t want any roommates.

In a couple months, the lease on the townhouse I am subleasing in the Bay Area will be up for renewal and all of my roommates will be leaving so I have the option to take over the townhouse as the main tenant.

As a newly married couple who has lived with room-mates most of our adult lives we are ready to be alone in a house together.

I just recently moved into a new apartment with roommates to save money on rent and utilities. 

I would start with "house hacking" aka get roommates so you can save a ton.I think posting/connecting with others and reading are the first steps in figuring out what interests you.Hope that helps :)

Its the perfect time in life to buy a house hack, since everyone is used to co-living and roommates so you could easily do a rent by the room strategy and make some cash flow while living for free.
