They group these units so that families can stay in several units around a campfire and they have several locations across the country. 

I am currently based in the Portland, OR area, however I will be out of the country for this coming year.

This will get you the investment at the price you're looking for, while gaining appreciation in a hot market caused by migration and lower prices compared to the rest of the country (Greenville, SC).

Don't leave your w2 until your RE portfolio can support your minimum requirements AND you can see a path to continued growth in the RE portfolio.

So, I would both keep savings and consider dumping CT unless there is a strong reason to keep it living across the country.
