You are looking at wiping down all surfaces, including walls and ceilings, with chemicals, running an air purifier or ionizer, replacing all carpeting, and that still may not take care of it.Hopefully their security deposit was a big one and you can get them out of there soon.

ON the surface this seems like an OK deal based on the rent vs the price but that is a pretty crude assessment. 

Plus Home Depot has great prices on their Pro Pack bundles of the stuff.One word of caution though, be careful about using MDF on any hard surface flooring that is likely to be exposed to water (i.e. bathrooms) or mopped regularly (i.e. kitchens) as they can soak up water and get a little swollen/deformed. 

I've removed well water stains on concrete, metal, vinyl, and other surfaces by simply spraying it out of a pump sprayer.

If you have to fill a whole or deep scratch, you can do it with flat surface a lot easier.
