Bottom line, which I think we're all in violent agreement about :) ... materials procurement is a complicated game of strategy and the "right" answer varies from job to job, material to material, business to business, and town to town.

I mean, I guess if it had been a different set of circumstances, like a violent crime had occurred that's one thing.

My concern is that Jamestown NY has a high crime rate (1 out of 27 chance of being a victim of violent or property crime), a declining population (current population 28,900and declining at a rate of -.071% annually) and 16% vacancy rates.

If those men with guns were to go away, would other men with guns show up and commit violent crimes?

I’m of the opinion that collective modest cash flow that fluctuates violently across different investments is acceptable, if not more desirable, if it allows for more opportunities within appreciating markets.
