But if you buy used you should be aware of these things and check w/your local appliance parts store to see if they still make most of the parts for that model, make sure it’s not more than a few years old, and I generally like to stick w basic appliances, no computers, no glass tops, no ice makers, no expensive stuff to fix.

Then after all of that, if appreciation works out in your favor then that is just a bonus or the icing on top of the cake. 

While it can be done, I think you're going to be on pretty thin ice.
