Though race relations, crooked politicians, overbearing unions and other major mismanagemnets/oversights have played a significant factor, the truth is that Metro Detroit honestly believed that dismantling it's core would be beneficial in the long-run.

If you're a note investor and politicians are talking about rent/mortgage cancellation, you're in a market that isn't like what it was 3 months ago.

@Marc Winter Politicians need to be taken to task for this reckless behavior and vote buying with taxpayer funds!

Yet none of these politicians have a clue on how to make things better. 

Thera are dams on rivers, windmill farms, solar farms and maybe politicians don't realize that this can be taxed more.

From your original post and replies above, it sounds like you’re on the right track though: let your attorney flex some muscle with the seller/flipper/contractor, and continue to raise hell with the building department, city complaint line, or even local politicians and news outlets.

Blame the strong economy and low unemployment, I'm sure there are some local politicians available to solve those problems.

If politicians start selling off real estate and shorting REITs, then worry.  

Sometimes the public and/or politicians look at investors as the "bad guy" but most landlords are providing an awesome service to the public.
