No state mandates that every person must, by law, purchase auto insurance.Everybody has the option of foregoing auto insurance; they simply have to forego driving.Tons of people don't even own cars and they certainly aren't required by law to purchase auto insurance.But hey, you could probably opt out of mandatory health insurance if only you were willing to forego breathing.
