I don't know if there is any way to extract your "pound of flesh" from the Sellers, but If any one of the Sellers has a real estate license, you may be able to go to the State Real Estate Commission.

The warranty will pay $10 a pound for the R22, but because it is no longer made, it will actually cost $100+ per pound, meaning you are out of pocket $1000 min.
