My spidey sense tells me that it would be a fair compromise for Zillow to allow homeowners to completely remove any display of the "Zestimate" if they chose to do so...Of course, however, this would lead to an "adverse selection" problem where when the Zestimate was too high, nobody would request removal.

I differ with @Michael SeekerRemember WHO asks for the pre-approval letter - - it's the BUYER, not the lender and that's to assure the buyer that the offer is genuine and not from a lookie-loo.The pre-approval letter will drive the lenders loan approval and underwriting process to produce a specific approval:we will grant a loan on xyz property not to exceed $yyk dollars with a COE on or before mm/yywith a GSI and NOI as represented by the displays from the existing owner.Offers submitted with the PAL and POF for the downpayment certainly get the sellers attention and I never accept an offer without both.

just go to zillow and click on the tax assessment link...it works in most counties...if that doesn't work, just go to county Web page or state department of assessment and look it up there...in Montgomery County Maryland for example I just do a Google search as follows...Montgomery County property tax search and it gets me directly to the link...in it you can search the address and it will display the owners name and mailing address, send all your mail there...if it gets returned, you have to try and find out who is in charge...always leave a note on the property...info case someone finds it...
