The thing of it is, yes, all these flakey, dishonest, and incompetent people are out there in mass, it's true, but there are also many great, honest, passionate, and incredibly talented folks out there too, and you will need to sort through 100 of the first kind to get to 1 of the second kind, but finding that 1 is worth it.

Be careful here because insurance doesn't have to protect you from a claim if the work was done unpermitted and unsafe.The fact that your general contractor says permits are not required for this level of substantial work tells me they are dishonest or incompetent.

To do so would be dishonest.

If they had a thumbs down, I would probably get a few of those from scammers promoting dishonest practices:)

My out of state company was dishonest and got terrible tenants.

I think it's dishonest and unprofessional to not disclose things like that and I never use a contractor I can't vet.
