Not very well IMO, state law dictates redemption rights on tax liens and the interest that can be charged, 10% here, then you have a waiting period to obtain a deed if the tax payer can't pay, chance are often good that they do redeem the property.

Please consult a tax professional for how to report your investments.I keep accounting records on software like quickbooks or Xero and I know every month about how much my tax bill is so I make estimated tax payments monthly instead of quarterly (just easier for me that way).

Account Closed check the cook county assessor site, each district is only open for contesting a few weeks a year, and you won't know till next spring.The benefit to you is you can have your tax payment upon the sale be held in escrow and get a refund if it gets lowered.I cook county everyone contests their taxes, I don't think buyers correlate the two.
