House hacking (buying a multi-family property and renting out units while living in one) allows you to cover or reduce your living expenses while building equity.

I first thought about starting with flipping, but from what I've heard I think I've changed course to maybe trying to house hack with a multi-family home?

A rather unconventional approach.... but I’m looking for a multi-unit (preferably 3/4 units but would consider up to 6 units) in Burlington Ontario or Oakville Ontario.

Investment Info:Large multi-family (5+ units) buy & hold investment.

I currently live in Barcelona but am interested in investing in the West Texas and DFW areas, particularly in student housing, single family, and/or multi-family properties.

I suspect many of these investor where not in deals in those years and never really saw or experienced the utter wipe outs that were happening to billion dollar companies.

I own 5 properties two of them being multi family properties so 7 doors. 

I was at a CCIM luncheon recently and some of my lender buddies and I were discussing that many of their banks are getting out of multi-family because of rising costs to manage the properties...including taxes and insurance.

If you lose, you have those expenses and a multi-million dollar judgment to pay off.
