I have been reading about the costs to build a duplex and begin renting, but thought my situation was a bit unique and so I decided to make my own post.A few years ago we inherited a house and land in town close to a local graduate school for physical therapy, occupational therapy, physicians assistant, etc. 

I am 29, single, employed, have ample savings, a full VA loan, and am pre approved for 550k, and looking within an hour of the dc metro area, ideally Harford county MD due to the good schools and military bases near by. 

Hi ALL,Just reaching out to see if you can give me some insights on Charlotte Michigan, Small City close to Lansing MI (21 Mil), I'm researching a Multifamily building, My concern is that there is 9,000 plus population only, I see articles that show is a good rental market, but it will be grate if anyone that knows the area can have some feedback as far is Schools, Crime rate, Economy and so on.As always, thank you guys, have a great day!!!!

I just graduated college and I start a new job next month as a Project Engineer for a multifamily construction company.

Nice area though and properties probably will hold their value as long as kids go to school in person at a building/campus. 

Lake county school system is overloaded. 

Maybe you can if you already have a perfect SAT, make a large donation to the school, and have a personal relationship with the head of admissions. 

I never got to house hack, but I have done two live in flips in the Riverside area once my kids got into school.

I'm sorry this is the first time I have had to school someone on BP , everyone else has shown nothing but respect for their fellow human..I hope your parents are married and your mother, sister, friend ..

Now interest rates staying flat hasn't helped too much, but we are in the higher season of people moving/finishing school/etc. 6-8 months ago was a bit slower.
