Yes, Silicon Valley has been perpetually 'Hot', due to the high tech jobs and life style in the area. 

I'd rather take a very hard look at my spending and lifestyle than dip into my retirement accounts.

There are lots of great amenities like the Zoo, Botanical Gardens - many of which include free admission for residents because of historic endowments, Forest Park is larger than Central Park, and there are so many other beautiful historic parks (Tower Grove Park, Benton Park, Lafayette Park) and a variety of unique neighborhoods that offer different lifestyle and investment choices.  

Keep in mind that when you have kid(s) your lifestyle will completely change whether you want to or not.

My current job allows me to maintain a decent lifestyle and save, however I only have 3.5 yrs left on the contract.

I know some other investors who struggle because they changed their lifestyle as soon as they buy 1, 2, 3, 4 properties.

I'm conscious of her preparing to move during the last month so that among other things is my hesitancy.

Not that I am an expert in real estate (yet) but I am very conscious of risks.

I'm interested in similar areas where there is a sound local economy and plenty of opportunity combined with lifestyle.
