My experience is that as long as the basement is sealed up during winter, the boiler itself will produce enough extra heat to keep the basement at a reasonable temperature.A newer thing recommended to me by the heating company is to add anti-freeze to the water of the system (boiler - hot water - baseboard heating system). 

It caused our fearless leaders to enact laws designed to prevent all of that from happening again, most of which won't and a lot of which hurts more than it helps (like the FHA 90 day anti-flip rule--seriously?!).

I did get a listing from a cold call, so proof of concept was there but the hours of phone calls after felt anti-productive to me.

Anti discrimination laws generally require there be a legally protected class of people, ex handicapped, transgender, or by religion, gender or race. 

So it’s disingenuous for the anti-wind crowd to be blaming wind alone and glossing over the bigger picture which would require those same folks pointing fingers to accept some of the blame themselves.
